Python course with a focus on data analysis modules:

  1. First half of semester, start from scratch and learn basic Python
  2. Second half, focus on modules numpy, pandas, and matplotlib

Prereqs:

Only need programming knowledge, no need to know Python in advance!

About the instructor: Dr Anca Doloc-Mihu

  • Went to computer science grad school on information retrieval
  • Then, worked as post-doctoral fellow at Emory Univ. on simulating models of biological neurons and large-scale biological data mining (e.g., large databases, SQL, neural nets, genetic algos, visualisations)
  • Started teaching as visiting Faculty teaching at Emory Univ., Math & CS Dept.
  • At GGC, became IT faculty with Soft Dev focus and helped start a Data Science and Analytics major
